How the toss works in cricket

Before the first ball, the two captains meet for the toss. One captain flips the coin, the other calls heads or tails, and whoever wins chooses to bat or bowl first. When nobody has a coin at the ground, or the match is being played across two phones, an online toss gives everyone the same result.

  1. Type the two team names, or leave them as Team A and Team B.
  2. Choose which team calls, and whether they call heads or tails.
  3. Flip the coin and see who won the toss.
  4. Share the result in the team group, then start scoring the match.

From toss to live score in one tap

After the toss, CriShify carries the team names and the toss result straight into a new match. Score every ball on your phone and everyone follows the live score on one link, with no app to install. It is free for gully, box, club and tournament cricket.

Questions

Is this online toss fair?

Yes. Each flip uses your browser's secure random number generator, so heads and tails are exactly equally likely, and nobody can predict or influence the result.

Who calls the toss in cricket?

Usually the home captain tosses the coin and the visiting captain calls heads or tails while it is in the air. In a friendly match, agree who calls before you flip and pick them under Who calls.

What does the toss winner choose?

The captain who wins the toss chooses whether their team bats or bowls first. Think about the pitch, the weather and dew later in the day before you decide.

Do I need to sign up or install an app?

No. The toss works in any phone browser without an account. You only create a free account if you want to score the match live afterwards.

Can I use it for things other than cricket?

Yes. It is a fair heads-or-tails coin flip, so you can use it for football kick-off, kabaddi, or any decision between two sides.
